Dear RCPS Poets,

The next RCPS meeting will be in Henderson this Thursday, April 16. I look forward to seeing you at South Main Church of Christ’s multi-purpose building, 2:00-4:00 pm. You are always welcome at our optional lunch before the meeting, starting around 12:30 pm. at Snowflake Cafe, 522 US-79 BUS, Henderson.

During the afternoon, you will have an opportunity to read one or two of your own poems. Remember to bring the shaped poem(s) you wrote in response to Lisa’s lesson in March.

Our Spotlight Poet is Sharon Taylor, Ilenya Marrin will present the lesson, and Janet Tyner will bring snacks..

*RCPS annual dues are $20.00, always payable in January. If you need to catch up on your 2026 dues, please get in touch with Carol Thompson. 

We are all invited and encouraged to attend the Northeast Texas Poetry in Schools Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 24, 10:30 AM-Noon. The ceremony is held at Region 7 Education Service Center, 1909 N. Longview Street in Kilgore. RCPS historically presents a $500 scholarship to the first place winner in the graduating senior category. This year, thanks to the leadership of Justin Robinson, additional scholarships will be presented to the graduating senior winners of second and third place, as well!
